building a smoker from 250 gallon propane tank

Going to build a new smoker for myself using a 250 gallon propane tank was thinking about notching the end to make my smoker box to save on the overall weight and length of the smoker is this a good idea or not?

Not sure what you mean by "notching the end", cstalls. Could you provide a few more details?

Meanwhile, welcome to our little corner of the barbecue world. Hope you'll be a regular contributor. A good place to start would be to introduce yourself, and let us know a little about your smoking/grilling interests, etc.
